Adem Yavuz Elveren is a Professor of Economics at the American University in Bulgaria. He obtained his BA, MA, and PhD degrees in economics from Ankara University, Boston University, and the University of Utah, respectively. His research encompasses social policy, feminist economics, and defense economics. Elveren is the author of The Economics of Military Spending A Marxist Perspective (Routledge, 2019) and Brain Drain and Gender Inequality in Turkey (Palgrave Pivot, 2018), and co-editor of Gender and Society in Turkey: The Impact of Neo-Liberal Policies, Political Islam and EU Accession with Saniye Dedeoğlu (I. B. Tauris, 2012).
